Professor Li-Wei Qin Receives ACAA 2024 Alumni of the Year Award: Using Music to Bridge Cultures and Unite the World


At the Sydney Opera House, internationally acclaimed cellist Professor Li-Wei Qin received the ACAA 2024 Alumni of the Year Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to global cultural exchange.
Arriving in Australia at the age of 13, Professor Qin has risen to the pinnacle of the international music world. Reflecting on his journey, he shared: “Music is a perfect medium—it connects cultures and makes the world smaller.”
The evening was a true celebration of culture and the arts.

100th Anniversary Gala Dinner Celebrating the First Chinese Students to Australia
On March 5, 2025, a gala dinner commemorating the 100th anniversary of Australia-China education was held at the New South Wales Parliament House in Australia. This event brought together more than 80 industry leaders from government, business, and academia to collectively honor and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Chinese students arriving in Australia. The event fully recognised the significant contributions of Chinese students to Australian society and education over the past century and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their efforts in contributing to the development of Australian society.
