Carolyn Atkinson is the Counsellor (Public Affairs) at the Australian Embassy in Beijing. Her role is to strengthen understanding of Australia within China.
Carolyn is a career diplomat. She was Counsellor (Political-Economic) at the Australian High Commission in Singapore from 2016 until June 2019. From 2013 until 2015, Carolyn was seconded as an adviser to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. She was First Secretary (Economic) at Australia’s Embassy in the Philippines from 2008 until 2011. Prior to this Carolyn worked in a variety of roles, including in consular crisis management, economic and public diplomacy and trade. Carolyn joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2006, prior to which she worked at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources.

As the Acting Manager of Global Relations at Study Queensland, Stephanie overseas the activities of TIQ’s vast global network of international education, training and research development managers located in TIQ offices worldwide.
Stephanie has more than two decades of experience working in the Australian higher education sector, initially in marketing and business development positions before moving into high level executive management support roles at James Cook University. From 2014 to 2021, Stephanie was the Executive Officer to the Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at James Cook University.
Stephanie has extensive experience in relationship management and developing collaborative partnerships, across teaching and learning and research, with other educational institutions, as well as business and government agencies.
Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma of Professional Communication and a Master of Business Administration.

Dr. Xingjin Wang is a distinguished energy entrepreneur and a world-renowned expert in the energy industry, with a particular focus on unconventional gas and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies. Xingjin Wang is executive chairman of Denison Gas the leading gas supplier in the Eastern Gas Market of Australia. Dr. Wang expertise is exemplified by his tenure as the General Manager at Arrow Energy, one of the largest CSG (Coal Seam Gas) companies globally.
Recognized as a leader in the CSG field, Dr. Xingjin Wang influence extends far beyond Australia. He has played a vital role in facilitating breakthroughs in CSG commercialization and mitigation of carbon missions for countries such as Russia and China. His dedication to
sustainable energy solutions is evident through his research on compressed air energy storage using depleted gas reservoirs. As a testament to his expertise and contributions, Dr. Wang holds the prestigious title of Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland and Chutian Scholar Professor of China University of Geoscience.
Dr. Wang earned his Ph.D. degree from UNSW (University of New South Wales) and is Vice President of NSW/ACT section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and active member the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia (PESA). Dr Wang has been nominated for selection of Fellow of Australia Academy of Technology and Engineering.
Over the past decades, Dr. Wang has made significant efforts to enhance collaboration between Australia and China in energy transmission innovation. He has also generously contributed to academic innovation in renewable energy by sponsoring scholarships and supporting technology innovations aimed at greenhouse gas emission mitigation.

Prof David S G Goodman is Director of the China Studies Centre at the University of Sydney, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. 2017-2021 he was Vice President Academic Affairs at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou; and 2004-2008 he was Deputy Vice Chancellor for International Affairs at UTS. The Jiangsu provincial Government recognized Prof Goodman with a Friendship Award in 2014; and the Suzhou city government appointed him as a friend of Suzhou in 2019.

Philippa Jones
Managing director, China Policy, Beijing
Following a career in economic research and diplomatic service, Philippa created China Policy in 2011. Immersed in the company’s coverage across macroeconomy, industry, environment, science and innovation, social and governance and geopolitical issues, she brings cross-sectoral synthesis to emerging issues. She advises clients in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
She has supported many Australian students in Beijing. Among the most memorable moments being when her Sanlitun living room was used as one of the first venues for ACYA events in Beijing。
Philippa worked as a senior advisor on China trade policy issues for the European Commission 2004-09. From 1999-2004, during China’s WTO accession, she was responsible for bilateral and multilateral trade issues at the Australian Embassy, Beijing. Prior to her appointment in Beijing she was an officer of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in Canberra. Ms Jones holds an honours degree in Chinese and economics from the University of Oxford.

Amy Yuen King Liu, JP is a senior solicitor, notary public, arbitrator, and mediator with extensive experience in civil, commercial, and family litigation. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws Degrees, and is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). A former partner at Charles Yeung Clement Lam Liu & Yip, she is now a Consultant Solicitor at the same firm and Honorary Lecturer at the University of Hong Kong. Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, Amy is deeply involved in community work, serving on multiple boards and tribunals, including the Hong Kong Society of Notaries and the English-Speaking Union and a school manager of various Hong Kong schools etc.
