The Australian Chamber of Commerce Shanghai (AustCham Shanghai) is the peak body for Australian business in East China. As a membership based organisation, AustCham Shanghai represents more than 250 businesses and individuals providing support, education, advocacy and business services.

AustCham Shanghai is a bridge between Australian and Chinese organisations, facilitating connectivity and promoting bilateral trade between Australia and China. The Chamber successfully links Australian organisations with Chinese counterparts and potential business partners, enhancing the trade relationship between the two countries.


AustCham Shanghai seeks a dynamic and suitable individual to join its membership team. Working in the AustCham Shanghai membership team is a great opportunity to assist Australian businesses in tackling China in a growing dynamic organisation.

AustCham Shanghai's relationship managers provide services including introductions, business referrals, advisory, networking opportunities, and more.Daily our team gives advice and fields questions across issues including market entry, business set up structure, suitable partner and provider identification, marketing, and branding opportunities, to general advice that helps organisations understand the shifting business landscape.


Responsibilities

  • Proactively account manage and advise a diverse range of member companies including c-suite executives from leading Australia-China businesses.

  • Develop new business by signing new companies to the Chamber’s membership.

  • Serve as the ‘voice for members’ and work strategically to develop new value propositions and services that better support member needs.

  • Achieve individual and team targets in key areas including but not limited to membership renewals, news, and project delivery.

  • Influence and work collaboratively with internal team members to ensure smooth and effective delivery of membership benefits and activities.

  • Act as a facilitator between members, building member benefit via connecting the right people and expanding their network.

  • Organise and lead industry forums, gathering key executives in relevant industries for networking and market sharing opportunities.

  • Assist in government relations activities and meetings including working-level discussions and relationship building with key stakeholders.

  • Represent AustCham Shanghai in formal capacity at external functions, including speaking engagements or chair responsibilities.

  • Build and develop your current network within Shanghai’s Australian and Chinese community via various channels including events.


Requirements

  • Work experience in China-Australia relations.

  • Demonstrated experience dealing with a variety of stakeholders including commercial, government or non-profit organisations.

  • Demonstrated experience dealing with c-suite executives across local and international businesses.

  • Demonstrated interest in international trade, Australia/China relations, and a solid understanding of the Australian and Chinese business environments.

  • Track record in sales, business development and account management highly relevant.

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese.

  • Strong cross-cultural experience.

  • Public speaking experience preferred.

  • People management experience a plus.

  • Flexible mindset and a willingness to learn and take feedback.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields.
